Staff Profile:

Dr Angus Campbell
Lecturer - Ruminant Production and Medicine

Dr Angus Campbell has been a veterinary consultant (sheep & beef cattle) with the Mackinnon Project, University of Melbourne, since 2002 and was the inaugural Thomas George Seymour Fellow in the Faculty of Veterinary Science in 2007. He completed a PhD in 2006 that investigated risk factors for post-weaning sheep mortality on wool-producing farms in south-eastern Australia, and the effect of different annual shearing times on sheep health and wool production.

Dr Campbell graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) from the University of Melbourne in 1995 and also holds a Bachelor of Animal Science in the area of molecular parasitology. Prior to his commencement with the Mackinnon Project, he worked in mixed veterinary practice in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Dr Campbell is currently undertaking work with the Australian Cooperative Research Centre for Sheep Industry Innovation to improve management and survival of weaner sheep on Australian farms, as well as working with Mackinnon Project clients and farmer education groups throughout Victoria. His other research interests include field epidemiology and statistical modelling of animal survival in extensive production systems.
