Professor

Professor Slocombe joined the Faculty of Veterinary Science as a Senior Lecturer in Pathology in 1986. He had previously been employed as an Associate Professor in Pathology at Michigan State University, USA, subsequent to completing his Food Animal Residency, an MS in Medicine and a PhD in Pathology. He is currently the Chair of Veterinary Pathology.

Teaching Responsibilities:
Undergraduate pathology courses, including general pathology (second year), Body systems 1&2 (third year) and Professional Practice 1&2 (fourth year).

Co-ordinator Roles:
Co-ordinator for General pathology
Joint co-ordinator for Wildlife management
Co-ordinator for the MVS program in pathology

Research Interests:
Zoo and wildlife pathology, EIPH of racehorses and respiratory system pathology associated with both infectious and non-infectious diseases

Professor Slocombe currently has the following external research grants:
Track fatalities in racehorses. Racing Victoria.
Skin toxicity of spider venoms. Canine Research Foundation.
Prostatic cancer in dogs. Canine Research Foundation.
