Bone and Muscle Cell Biology

The main interest of the Bone and Muscle Cell Biology laboratory is the regulation of differentiation and activity of cells of the musculoskeletal system.

About Us:

Current research includes studies on the mechanism of PAR-2-mediated inhibition of osteoclast differentiation, investigation of PAR-1-independent responses to thrombin in bone, regulation of bone cell function by Tenascins, pathophysiological mechanisms in equine dyschondroplasia and muscle hypertrophy and atrophy in commercial sheep breeds.

We have currently established collaborative research with scientists at Monash University Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the University of Sydney Factulty of Veterinary Science, the School of Medicine (Davis, USA), the University of Umea (Sweden) and the Friedrich Miescher Institute (Basel, Switzerland).
