Congratulations Aaron and Ross!

The paper entitled “An integrated pipeline for next-generation sequencing and annotation of mitochondrial genomes” by Aaron Jex, Ross Hall, Tim Littlewood and Robin Gasser, has been accepted for publication in Nucleic Acids Research. ‘You beauty!’

Robin receives 2009 WAAVP-Bayer Award

Dr Aaron Jex has been awarded the Peter Nansen Young Scientist Award (PNYSA) 2009 from the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP; www.waavp.org/node/14)!

Congratulations Cinzia!

Ms Cinzia Cantacessi has been awarded a Louisiana State University-World Associaton for the Advancement of veterinary Parasitology (LSU-WAAVP) Travel Award to deliver her talk (entitled “Exploring the transcriptome of Haemonchus contortus during its transition to parasitism using a deep-sequencing approach” by C. Cantacessi, B. E. Campbell, R. S. Hall, the late P. J.A. Presidente, J. L. Zawadzki, R. B. Gasser) at the WAAVP 2009 Conference in Calgary (see www.meet-ics.com/waavp2009/grants.html). Five awards were made worldwide, on a competitive basis, to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Stipends were awarded based on research quality and potential impact.

Cinzia also received the Dr Sue Newton Scholarship for her investigation into the structure and function of a class of molecules that is important for the establishment of parasitism for some species of parasitic nematodes. See: www.vet.unimelb.edu.au/news/2009/CinziaCantacessi.html
